The design brings together transit, hotel, dining, retail and entertainment options in an iconic terminal building located in the heart of the city. The team was challenged to create an icon that would welcome a new age of public transportation. The terminus was conceived as a catalyst for transforming Dhanbad’s core into a pedestrian-friendly zone that promotes connectivity. The master plan establishes a clear pedestrian pathway flanked by mixed-use development including retail and hospitality as the primary destination. The extroverted building has a significant but welcoming presence and will help spur transit-oriented development in the rapidly developing state of Jharkhand.
